I’ve seen a few clients coming from other local agents recently, stating that the other agents charge handling fees, or cash fees or credit card fees for auto and home insurance payments. Well, It is illegal for an agent to charge the client any more than the amount due on the insurance company’s bill. If the insurance company charges a credit card fee, they can, but the agent can NOT add anything at all onto a clients bill on top of what is due to the carrier. It is illegal.
